Grid-tie and battery backup for home and business
|
Types
of grid-tie systems
Basic Grid Tie: A solar array produces power during the day,
and an inverter synchronizes this power with that supplied by the
utility. Your home uses solar energy first, and draws whatever else
it needs from your utility. At night, the utility supplies 100%
of your power. Most basic grid-tie
systems (without battery backup) use Fronius or Sunny Boy inverters.
Grid Tie
+ Backup: Your solar system functions the same way as a basic
grid tie system, delivering power to your home during the day. But
your system also has battery storage. In the event of grid power
failure, your inverter switches to battery power to supply your
homes needs. This keeps your important equipment running during
outages or brownouts.
Backup solar
power systems that supply power to the grid after a battery bank
is fully charged typically use an Outback grid-tie inverter power
panel. This has a built-in charge controller. Contact
us for more information.
Types
of stand-alone systems
Stand
alone residential system: These are systems intended to
run a home that does not have electricity provided by a utility
company. These use a solar array that charges a battery bank. You
can run lights and appliances off of your DC battery bank or through
an inverter that supplies standard AC power.
Weatherproof
solar system: Often referred to as MAPPS, these are systems
intended to run equipment in a rural environment with little maintenence.
These independent solar power systems use a NEMA rated enclosure.
They are used for telemetry, SCADA, flow control meter, WI-FI, radio
repeater, survelliance camera and lighting applications. CSA Class
1, Div II available.

us to configure a solar power system using a NEMA rated weatherproof
enclosure to suit your needs. These usually use a side of pole mount,
other mounting options available. Class 1, Div 2 certification also
available.
