Class 1 Div 2 Solar Systems
MAPPS
CI DII Series
Remote Area Photovoltaic Systems for Class I Div II Hazardous Locations
Description
Our MAPPS Class I Division II line of solar power systems.
One of the world's top safety testing labs, CSA, has independently
certified these systems as safe for use in the highest level of
hazardous locations such as a potentially explosive environment
where there is the possible presence of flammable gases, vapors
or liquids. This system line is the first solar power system in
the world to meet CSA's most rigorous Class I Div II, Class A, B,
C, and D hazardous location safety standard.
This important feature allows the complete Class I Div II system
to be placed directly adjacent to the pipeline or wellhead, saving
installation time and materials.
Using our Class I Division II systems insure that no matter what
your location or application , you can safely and reliably generate
electricity to power your equipment anywhere the sun shines, even
under the most hazardous conditions.
Typical
Class I Div II Applications:
Gas wellheads
Gas pipelines
Chemical refineries
Oil refineries
Offshore oil platforms
Air monitoring
Only
the Best Class 1 Division 2 rated components are used in our MAPPS
systems:
High efficiency UL Listed, Class I Div II rated solar panels
with 20+ year warranty
Heavy-duty aluminum pole mounting structure with stainless
steel hardware
Solar array Class I Div II approved conduit wiring harness
kit
UL Listed NEMA 3R durable powder-coated white aluminum battery
control and component enclosure, lockable, includes sticker on inside
door with specific Class I Div II certification
Sealed gel cell, maintenance free, deep-cycle, non-spillable
batteries, UL Recognized
Advanced PWM Charge Control, Class I Div II rated, with low
voltage load protection and temperature compensated battery charging
Extra room for your equipment - each system package has roughly
12 cu/in of extra space in the electronics compartment. There is
plenty of room for you to add your own Class I Div II rated SCADA,
radio, GPS, telemetry, VSAT, Wi-Fi or other electronic equipment.
CSA Approved Class I, Div. II hazardous location safety rating

What does
a Class I Div II certified system mean to you?
It means that
the world's most trusted name in testing, Underwriters Laboratories,
has independently certified these systems as safe for use in the
highest level of hazardous locations like potentially explosive
where there is the possible presence of flammable gases, vapors
or liquids. This system line is the first solar power system in
the world to meet UL's most rigorous hazardous location safety standard.
Using these
systems insures - no matter what your location or application -
that you can safely and reliably generate electricity to power your
equipment anywhere the sun shines, even under the most hazardous
conditions.
These systems
are the only complete stand alone solar electric systems designed
for industrial, oil gas & mining and telecom applications that
can be approved for Class I, DIV. II hazardous locations (UL Pending).

Design Steps:
1. Calculate
your Power Requirements
Determine the Amp-hours per day for all of the equipment you want
to power. Consider both continuous and intermittent loads in a 24-hour
period. Average over a week if loads change daily. Test the actual
power draw of the equipment if you can.
2. Determine
your Solar Insolation Zone
Locate your site on the map below. The map
represents average solar energy available in the winter. Available
energy increases incrementally from zones 1 through 5.
3. Use the
Performance Table to Choose your System
The tables below represent the Amp-hours
per day performance of each MAPPS system in the different solar
zones. Choose your system voltage, then look down your solar zone
column for the value that meets or exceeds your design load Amp-hours.
Follow the row to the left for the corresponding prepackaged MAPPS
system that will fully power your load requirements.
