Alpha Series Variants

REC Alpha Series solar panels come standard with black-colored half-cut monocrystalline cells and a black frame. In addition, a full-black variant with a black backsheet (Alpha Black) is available, so that you can select your preferred look to give you the ideal combination of high power and aesthetics.

The Alpha delivers the world’s best power density on a 60-cell module, a key consideration when space is tight – like on any rooftop. With the REC Alpha Series, customers will get over 20 percent more power from the same area and the same number of panels – or, put other way, the same energy output from less space. This reduces the Balance of System (BoS) costs. In addition to better economics, customers can also look forward to an increase in the value of their property: several studies in various countries show that a premium solar installation on the roof is adding value to the property and is a highly desired extra for home-buyers, not least due to the better energy performance rating.

Zero LID

The loss of power generation capacity experienced by a standard solar panel on its first exposure to light is known as Light Induced Degradation (LID). This is a result of the combination of boron and oxygen inside a cell and causes a permanent drop in a standard panel’s maximum power. Not with Alpha solar panels!

The n-type technology in REC’s Alpha Series stops these two elements from mixing at any level, thereby fully preventing any occurrence of LID. Thus, the panel’s power remains the same as when it left the REC factory – meaning you always get exactly the power levels that you paid for.

Half-cut Cell Technology

The unique REC ‘Twin’ cell layout design, where the panel is split into two identical and mirrored sections, enables the continued production of energy, even when part of the module or array is shaded, further contributing to its high energy yields compared to standard panels.

Super-strong Frame Design

REC Alpha solar panels feature extra support bars across the rear of the panel, greatly boosting its strength and durability, and allowing loads of up to 7000 Pa – far exceeding the 5400 offered by conventional panels. Combined with a 30 mm frame height, this frame design enables flexible installation options, making overcoming every obstacle easier during system design.
