SolarEdge’s StorEdge SE3800A-USS2 DC coupled storage solution automatically provides homeowners with backup power in case of grid interruption, and allows home owners to maximize self-consumption for maximum energy independence.
Unused PV power is stored in a battery and used during a power outage or when PV production is insufficient. When there is a power outage, a combination of PV and battery is used to power important loads such as the refrigerator, TV, lights and AC outlets, day or night. The solution is based on a single inverter for PV, storage and backup power.

The SolarEdge SE3800A-USS2 inverter is designed with sophisticated digital control technology with efficient power conversion architecture. This innovation combined with Power Optimizers achieves superior solar power harvesting and best-in-class inverter reliability for home grid-tie solar system applications.
The SolarEdge power optimizer is connected by installers to each module, replacing the traditional solar junction box. The optimizers are designed be as reliable as the solar panels that they are mounted to. Power Optimizers are based on the SolarEdge reliability strategy, a physics-based multi-level method of failure point identification. Providing a warranty for a proven 25 year system operational lifetime was enabled through a combination of reliability-oriented design rules.
The fixed-voltage technology ensures the SolarEdge SE3800A-USS2 solar inverter is always working at its optimal input voltage over a wider range of string lengths and regardless of the environmental conditions of your solar system.
The SolarEdge meter is used for battery integration and for production / consumption readings for Feed-in Limitation. This RS485 Electricity Meter enables the use of Export Control and Consumption Monitoring for StorEdge Applications. It mounts inside the included NEMA 3R weatherproof enclosure and comes with 2 current transformers.
This separate switching transformer connects to a StorEdge™ Inverter to quickly and automatically enable battery backup power. The auto-transformer connects to the StorEdge inverter to enable split-phase balancing for 120V loads, using the inverter’s 240V output to power the 120V backed-up loads. It is only needed for StorEdge backup battery power applications, it is not required if the system is working in Smart Energy Management mode.
The StorEdge SE3800A-USS2 can support an LG Chem RESU 10H ESS battery module pack. The RESU10H can store surplus energy generated from rooftop solar panels for use when needed. When the sun has set, energy demand is high, or there is a black-out, you can use the energy stored in your ESS to meet your energy needs at no extra cost.

SolarEdge's Multi-Level Reliability:
The SolarEdge multi-level reliability plan involves Design Analysis & Qualification by in-house and external experts, sub-system testing by Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) of critical components, and integrative testing of design prototypes (via HALT) and large sample groups.
As part of these efforts, tens of thousands of components have been evaluated in accelerated life chambers (burn-in, thermal cycling, humidity and so forth) as well as hundreds of products in field tests and stress tests. These tests have run for the equivalent of over 100 years (well over the expected life of photovoltaic systems). A key element of SolarEdge's reliability strategy – and a significant differentiator relative to its competitors – is use of proprietary application specific ICs (ASIC) in its products. The best way to improve the reliability of electrical circuits is to reduce the number of components in it – this is done in SolarEdge products by replacing a large number of discrete components with a single ASIC designed specifically for the task at hand. The ASIC itself is manufactured according to proprietary design rules specifically defined to allow for the long 25 year lifetime of the ASICs. Extensive analysis and testing has been done to assure the ASIC packaging is robust enough to handle the mechanical and electro-chemical stresses experienced over 25 years of daily thermal inverter cycling.
